![]() ![]() By the end of December, QSERF would implement refueling for the Dark Matter Reactor, introducing the first, of many, maintenance features the game would receive, as well as the Raider team. Not long after QSERF's launch, the first iteration of Quantum Science's Security Department, Quantum Security Task Force, launched under Commandant Dekimus. Work on QSERF from this point was dedicated to expanding to the game's feature list. Despite administrative and developer expectations, the game managed to accrue roughly 109 players on launch despite gamebreaking bugs being present in the initial launch version while the cumulative player count was much lower, QS Administrative Personnel considered the launch to be a success. QSERF was released on August 18th, 2019 at roughly 4:30PM Pacific Standard Time. The game would see many of its QSML: Origins components be remastered, such as the Dark Matter Reactor Gen 01. Subsequently, the declaration of QSERF as a flagship project would result in the delay, and eventual cancellation, of SST's Quantum Science Multipurpose Labs 3 Version 3. The game was originally designated as a showcase, although as the development schedule carried on, more resources started to get poured into the development of QSERF many assets used in QSERF were pre-built by the time the project was initiated.Īs rhetoric surrounding QSERF's development grew louder and more common, the more engrained the SST Developer Team became with the project, culminating in a full-force effort to develop a functional remaster of QSML: Origins. QSERF's design intended on taking on the aesthetic of Aperture Science during the 1960s-1980s as seen in Valve's Portal 2 and associated mods. The game was planned out and announced as a remaster of the legacy game QSML: Origins. ![]() QSERF was conceived as a plan in April of 2019. At normal operations, Foxtrot-9 operates at 38000 kW, and a maximum of 50000 kW. The reactor uses sterling converters to generate power to operate on the Facility's Auxiliary Power Grid. The controls for the warhead are separated by 2 bulkhead doors and a singular heavy reinforced vault door.įoxtrot-9 (AKA Project Helios) is a Mobile Nuclear Fission Reactor, also a fictional Type-247 Sterling Converter Reactor with 9 control rods. SL4 is the deepest point of the facility and houses the warhead itself in a Castle Bravo-esque concrete canister. Protocol Saletum is the designation for a one (1) megaton warhead located roughly a kilometer underground in Sublevel 4. The collider, in lore, was made under the guise of having an American-based particle collider that being said, the collider is intended to be the completed rendition of its real-life cancelled counterpart. The Hadron Collider is made up of a 40 kilometer long acceleration track that spans underneath the New England region. The reactor itself is a prototype, and highly volatile. The DMR shown in QSERF is a single-layered spherical reactor with its Power Lasers in a triangular orientation, while also having magnetic stabilizers (also in triangular orientation) that hold the DMR steady on top of the Gravity Lasers. The Dark Matter Reactor (DMR for short) is an Inertia Confinement-based fusion reactor that uses muon-based catalyzation for operation at 'cold fusion' levels. Here is a breakdown of each of QSERF's leading mechanics, as well as links to their dedicated articles. ![]() The game also features combat in the form of Raider gamepass ownership and Quantum Security Operations membership, but there are rules in place to minimize this aspect. The game postures itself as primarily a facility simulation game, offering exploration, maintenance, and a rush to escape when things inevitably go wrong. ![]()
